Most Likely To Work as Microsoft Tech Support November 27, 2006

I asked my sons to please help me with a computer task.  Whoever answered back first would get one dollar (they seem to work best when there is some sort of reward).  Anyway, as you can see, what it took one son to explain in 239 words, the other said in 38.  I find that interesting.

One son’s response:

After scanning, I would save the file to my desktop as a jpeg.  (Tiff would be fine.  Bitmap is good but the files are huge, which is not good for emailing.)

There should be an option in your software for setting the resolution.  The worse the resolution, the smaller the file, the easier to email.  Of course, the worse the resolution, the worse the quality of the image also.

After saving the file, you can see how big it is by pointing at the file (i.e. on your desktop) without clicking.  A window will pop up.  At the bottom it will give you the size of the file.  You definitely need the file to be less than 10MB.  Ideally you would like it less than 1MB (i.e. anything with unit kB is great).  If your file is too big, you can rescan it at a lower resolution or call me and I can teach you how to compress the files.

Then open an email, add the jpeg file to the email, and send.

If you want to save the jpeg for later, open up “My Documents”, and drag the file into that window.  Even better, create a folder in “My Documents” for scanned images you want to save.  Let me know if you need help doing that (Hint: start by right clicking in My Documents, choose “New”, and then “Folder”.  Be sure to give the folder a descriptive name.)

You can put the $1 toward my tab.

The other son said this

Did I get the dollar?

Choose email it then choose JPEG or save it to the desktop and attach it to the email. If you open up your email options you will see “attach”. Then browse to your desktop and select the file.

Of course, they both will be rewarded for their excellent efforts.

I was cleaning out some old files on my computer and I came across this one. I am not sure who all these people are, other than the first person on the left, who is obviously Megan and Eric’s first born son.

P.S.  Cute kid.

Thought we could give the site a new look for a while. I will try to find a better one soon. This is a little cheesy but I needed some change. Remember, I am the one that rearranged my room on a weekly basis.

A moment of silence please. The last undefeated team falls.

Don’t hang your head, Peyton. You will get another chance to beat them … in the Super Bowl.
