A Boy Named Chloe October 28, 2006

Filed under: Blog — The Eldest @ 1:06 pm

Here is a mugshot of the next cute little bundle of depravity. Apparently the ultrasound “indicates” it is a boy. Like Leah. Also, apparently, he is storing acorns in his cheeks for winter.

Anyway, we need a name, and so we are pleased to announce the next family contest. I am pushing for Moses, and Mom wants Chloe. If you have any better suggestions, send them our way.

By the way, here is a cool site that plots the popularity of a name (in America) as a function of year: click here.

If you don’t think to try Adolf (or Adolph - the Americanized version), you need to loosen up and learn to have some fun.

I’m putting ‘Taylor’ on the suggestion table.

Wisdom of the Nose Picker: The Eldest has requested help with naming his lastborn son. That son is more than half built and nobody has helped with the name. It is time to name this son and I would like to propose a name. I think he should be named after my new favorite golf score. That would be Bogey Schvaneveldt. Middle name to follow. If there is no other entry, this will be the standing leading candidate which will go with this child forever. To change the outcome, you will have to offer a better suggestion. But I don’t think even over the internet naming options, you will find a finer name than Bogey. Love, Papa, the Nose Picker.

    Bogey! I like it!!

Except I worry about the confusion when I come home from playing golf, and Grace asks how I did, and I smile proudly and tell her I shot bogey.

And Meg: You may think you’re funny. Didn’t mom ever teach you not to kick under the table?

  6. Lori Says:

    Lastborn?

to the eldest : we have a new problem with the naming of your latest new child ,the one, who is as we speak is on the assembly line, and is about to be revealed to the public without a name. THE FACTORY (Lori)just announced that this will be the last model to come out this factory! and there lies the projblem:it is obvious to all that the name BOGEY is by far the best choice for naming the last born .but i am getting feed back from CHLOE that we should not use the name BOGEY. the reason for this pressure was not really obvious to me but with a long discussion with CHLOE this is what i learned::::CHLOE has had a plan for a long long time(we all know how she likes to plan a head) that she would like to have MEGAN’S first born son to be named BOGEY SCHVANEVELDT FRANK because she has always liked the initials(BSF)!!!!! so keep CHLOE’S feelings in mind when the time comes to chose the name for THE LAST BORN. the nose picker

We are really excited about the news. Not that we would not be excited if it was a girl, but I feel that only evens up James’ odds. Every boy needs a little brother…right steve…Steve? right!?
As far as names, obviously Barbara and I are a little partial to Italian ones.
We thought of Benino. You could call hime Duke for short. But if you do, make sure his middle name is not Adolf, or there won’t be a +80 year old who will come within cubic kilometer (see how metric I have become over here)of him, though that would mean less cheek pinching…tough call.
Obviously if you feel he is a little more “italian” (as I have heard, he seems to be one, is he practicing his hand gestures even now?) you could give him a name like Fabio Gentile or Edoardo Soave.
If you want more biblical italian names (let’s stay away from latin) you could go for Davide, Mosè, Giacomo (it means James, so it could get a little confusing if Simone comes to visit)or Matteo (my personal favorite.
But I am willing to chip in 100 Euro of nurse costs if you name him Al Davis Schvaneveldtor 50 for Jerry Jones Schvaneveldt…someone needs to change the image of those names.
My final suggestion is Thomas (Tomaso). I would love to name a second son this but it won’t happen…unless maybe we have like 9tiplets and they are all boys. It is low on Barbara’s totem poll, but I think after the seveth or eigth she will start to lose count.
    Matt
