Go Cowboys! September 30, 2006

Filed under: Sports — The Cool One @ 10:37 pm

This might be the only week of my life that I am rooting for the Cowboys. With Hassleback and the Seahawks facing the gruesome Bears’ defense, I pulled him and put in my second stringer, Drew bledsoe. So go Cowboys…at least for this week.

John 19:23-24

In these verses, we see the Roman soldiers closer to the most crucial part of all of human history than anybody else, and they are gambling for part of His inner tunic. I am reminded how close some people can be to the gospel, hearing it every Sunday, hearing it on the radio, seeing it on TV, and yet totally miss the point. Instead of bending the knee towards the King lifted up, they are distracted by silly things. How sad to be so close to the cross and still miss the main point!

Thanks for the inspiration.. I took some time to watch some classics. This one is unforgetable…especially when the guy says….Ding dong man…ding dong.

We must be Related…(except I have more discernment)

Steve,

I recieved that same video from a friend and thought it was soo funny.  I was going to post it on the blog a few days ago, but then I thought I would probably be the only one who knew the song so it wouldn’t be properly enjoyed…little did I know my brother was a closet rap connoisseur.  Too funny.

A challenge from Pilate September 24, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — The Cool One @ 6:21 am

This morning we studied John 18:39 to 19:16. We examined the amazing reality that five times in the gospels Pilate declared Jesus’ innocence, yet for the love of his own power and position, he was willing to sear his conscious and crucify Christ. You clearly see him wavering between the accepting the truth and saving his lifestyle; while all the while he wanted to push the situation on others (be it the Jews, Herod, or the crowd)

I was reminded of a Jim Elliot prayer to be a fork in the road and not just another mile marker that people pass without making any kind of decision for Christ. You see that fork in the road encounter as Pilate meets Jesus. My question for our family is what we are doing to impact those we come in contact with? Do we let them pass us by without any kind of challenge? What can we do to be this fork in the road with our family? With our church? With our friends? With our neighbors? At work?

Hey Matt, if you have time, maybe you could write a little something for us based on your sermon this week.  Just take one of the big ideas that you taught and write a paragraph or something.  It seems to me that you need more to do - and I think Leah could really benefit by hearing it twice.

Daughter of a Cynic…

I Predict that no one else on this blog site cares about the woes of the Raiders or the Cowboys except you two…but thanks for letting us get a little first-hand peek into your lively banter…and confirming once again for me that I am really glad I am not a boy and have to talk about boring things!  Happy Sunday.

Son of a prophet. September 23, 2006

I have a prediction Matt. Although most are predicting that the Raiders will lose every game they play this year, I don’t think they will lose this week. I really don’t. Certainly, this is their best shot to avoid losing. I am pulling for them.

In fact, to show that I am unbiased, I think that this will be the one week when the Raider’s don’t lose AND the Cowboys don’t win. So live it up il mio fratello.

So tomorrow at dinner: remember me; remember the Raiders; and remember the Boys. Toast all three. Enjoy the day.

You are right mom. Instead of writing a comment this time or posting, you changed my post. It seems that I wrote the second half of the post MMM! ;) That only makes it all the more funny! I guess you are really “Not So Modern Mamma Mia”.

Wow, mom! You added coments to Steve’s posts. We will have to change your name to Modern Mamma Mia…MMM.

Don’t get too excited.  I only did the comment part because I wasn’t sure how to add onto the post.  I think I might have just figured it out. . . so don’t add the “modern” part just yet :)
